STARKVILLE, Miss. – Seniors
McKenzie Kilpatrick of
Alabama Christian Academy (Montgomery, Ala.),
Melissa Mosqueda of
Rosemont (Sacramento, Calif.) High School, and juniors
Raquel Granados of
Hanks (El Paso, Texas) High School,
Carly Piccinich of
Immaculate Heart Academy (Washington Township, N.J.), and
Lindsay Swipas of
Champion (Warren, Ohio) High School have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through April 18, 2011.
Representing the North Region Swipas had an impressive week both in the circle and at the plate. The junior righty pitched a perfect game in a win over Jefferson Area high school. In her other mound appearances on the week she tossed two shut out victories. At the plate she hit .444 with two home runs and 5 RBI, helping her team remain undefeated with a 9-0 overall record.
In the South Central Region, Granados hit four home runs in two games this week with 14 RBI. With that performance she led the nation in slugging percentage, an impressive 2.400. The junior leads the team with a .630 batting average and 65 RBI on the season, helping the team to a 26-7 overall record.
From the South Region, Kilpatrick led the Eagles to a 7-0 week extending their perfect record in league play. The senior went 13 for 17 at the plate with 11 runs scored, 16 RBI including four doubles and four home runs. On the year the she is hitting .564 with a .904 slugging percentage.
In the East Region, Piccinich went 8 for 11 at the plate with three triples, a home run, four RBI, and 8 runs scored. In a win over Ramapo the junior went 3 for 4 with two doubles and four runs scored. Her efforts helped the top ranked Eagles to a 6-0 conference start.
West Region honoree, Mosqueda, had a big week at the plate going 9-11 with two home runs, four doubles and a triple. On the season the senior is hitting .444 and leads the team with 14 RBI helping the Wolverines to an 8-0 start in league play.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week's award. The NFCA High School Players of the Week, one for each high school region, will be announced by the Association on
www.nfca.org every Monday during the spring season.
