John Thompson III and the Georgetown Hoyas got a jump on Class of 2013 recruiting Monday with a commitment from
Stephen Domingo, a 6-foot-7 wing from
St. Ignatius (San Francisco).
"I'm proud to be a part of Hoya Nation," Domingo said in a press release distributed by St. Ignatius. "Georgetown will help me develop into an outstanding basketball player and an outstanding young man."

Domingo, ranked No. 68 in the MaxPreps Class of 2013 Top 100, averaged 13.3 points per game as a junior. He plays on the summer circuit for Dream Vision, which has emerged as a powerhouse club on the West Coast and last year featured the nation's top guard in
Shabazz Muhammad.
"The relationship that was built with Coach Thompson was key," Dream Vision president and U17 head coach Clayton Williams said. "Stanford was appealing, the University of Washington was appealing, Harvard was appealing. His mother is a Princeton grad. But Georgetown had what he was looking for in terms of great school, great conference, great coaching."
An outstanding student, Domingo was heavily recruited by multiple Ivy League schools in addition to Arizona, California, Louisville, Stanford and UCLA. Due to the development of his game and continued physical growth, Williams believes his best basketball is still years in front of him.
"The sky is the limit with this kid," Williams said. "He will be a way better college player than high school player. Maybe even a better pro, and I don't say that lightly. Stephen has a lot of untapped potential."
Dream Vision's U17 squad is 10-1 this spring with a tournament victory at the Real Deal in the Rock in Arkansas. Despite losing standouts like Muhammad (UCLA),
Winston Shepard (San Diego State),
Robert Upshaw (Fresno State) and
Xavier Johnson (Colorado) from last summer's team, Williams believes his 2012 outfit could be even better – thanks in part to the play of Domingo.
"He's shooting the ball very well and starting to put the ball on the floor and get to the front of the rim," Williams said. "He's hard to guard because he is so multi-dimensional."
Domingo is the the 28th prospect in the Class of 2013 Top 100 to make a verbal commitment.
