Stearns had won three straight at home, but on Saturday they bumped up to 10-4 to make it four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Fort Kent Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Minutemen have posted since May 7, 2025.
Owen Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Stearns let Ben Waite and Lucas Pelkey run wild. Waite went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Pelkey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brady LeGassey, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As for Fort Kent, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.
On Fort Kent's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Lamarre, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Lamarre is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Kyle Paradis was another, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Stearns will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fort Kent: the pair will be back at it again later today.
