Baseball Recap: Leflore Sets Scoring Season-High Against Rain

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask LeFlore). They came out on top against the Rain Red Raiders by a score of 14-11 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Rattlers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jakourian Gibson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of LeFlore's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-9 when he doesn't). Gibson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amorion Sneed, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Amir Sneed also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

LeFlore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

LeFlore's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Rain, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

LeFlore will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
