The Platte Canyon Huskies can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They really took it to Rocky Mountain Lutheran for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-9 win on the road. That 49-9 margin sets a new team best for Platte Canyon this season.
Platte Canyon was led to victory by Jack McMahen and Max Flores. McMahen scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Flores scored nine points along with seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for him. Trevor Kirklin was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Rocky Mountain Lutheran struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Platte Canyon posted eight assists.
Platte Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
Platte Canyon will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Arvada at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. After both having extra time off, Rocky Mountain Lutheran and Mile High Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
