Wayne is 8-2 against West Point-Beemer since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Wayne Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the West Point-Beemer Cadets at 7:00 p.m. Wayne is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, Wayne was able to grind out a solid victory over Guardian Angels Central Catholic, taking the game 55-43.
Wayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drue Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Davis scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden Backer, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-31, which was the final score in West Point-Beemer's tilt against Douglas County West on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, West Point-Beemer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Douglas County West is ranked 36th).
Wayne's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-2. As for West Point-Beemer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Everything went Wayne's way against West Point-Beemer in their previous matchup back in January as Wayne made off with a 54-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wayne since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
