The Platte Valley Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They suffered a rough 66-44 loss at the hands of Highland. While losing is never fun, Platte Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Highland is ranked 96th).
Platte Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauryn Uyemura, who scored 12 points along with five steals. Uyemura is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedi Nelson, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Platte Valley's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Highland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Platte Valley will be playing at home against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wellington will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to face off against Frontier Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Frontier Academy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
