The Chandler Wolves will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Cibola Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Chandler is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Tuesday, Chandler faced Eastmark in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chandler managed a 57-52 victory over Eastmark. Chandler's victory was all the more impressive since Eastmark was averaging only 24.38 points allowed on the season.
Chandler found their leader in underclassman Averi Mehlberg, who scored 25 points along with 3 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mehlberg has scored at least 25% of Chandler's points. Another player making a difference was Jesminda Garcia, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Cibola was the victim of a rough 58-35 loss at the hands of Dobson last Tuesday. Cibola has struggled against Dobson recently, as their game last Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Sierra Bomhower was Cibola's leading scorer, having posted 11 points.
Isabela Molina held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. Molina took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Chandler's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Cibola, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Chandler ended up a good deal behind Cibola in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, losing 52-35. Thankfully for Chandler, Rori Hoffmeyer (who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
