The boys basketball season in Texas is in full swing, and 15 of the 1,557 teams in the state jumped over 100 spots in the latest MaxPreps Texas Boys Basketball Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
Texas boys basketball teams with biggest rankings jumps
Sharpstown (Houston)Jumped 427 spots to No. 752. The Apollos (7-8) made an unprecedented leap in the rankings. The team has won four of its last five games after opening the year 2-6.
Grady (Lenorah)Jumped 277 spots to No. 614. The Wildcats (13-4) are winners of seven straight games and haven't lost since Dec. 10. The team has really been clicking the last month and a half.
KrumJumped 221 spots to No. 547. The Bobcats (10-9) are winners of two of their last three games, including a thrilling 80-78 victory in overtime over Gainesville on Jan. 13.
BangsJumped 193 spots to No. 1,144. The Dragons (6-14) pulled off a couple wins in early January to start 2017 off right. However, they've dropped three in a row.
Monterey (Lubbock)Jumped 189 spots to No. 595. The Plainsmen (9-14) had won their last two games by single digits after falling in their first two games of the new year.
Covenant Christian (Colleyville)Jumped 188 spots to No. 405. The Cougars (18-7) have pulled off victories in four of their last five games, including a 59-point win on Jan. 6.
Sam Houston (Arlington)Jumped 161 spots to No. 726. The Texans (4-13) have had a rough season, but picked up their fourth win by downing Mansfield 51-49 on Jan. 13.
Sierra Blanca (Sierra Blanca)Jumped 147 spots to No. 916. The Vaqueros (5-4) have won three straight games to get above .500 for the second time this season.
Founders Classical Academy (Lewisville)Jumped 139 spots to No. 932. The Eagles (6-4) are coming off back-to-back two-point wins after dropping a pair of games.
MuleshoeJumped 128 spots to No. 650. The Mules (9-9) started out 2017 in style with a pair of victories by an average of 39 ½ points.
ClintJumped 106 spots to No. 845. The Lions (10-10) started out the year 1-3, but have won their last five games and are rolling.
ArpJumped 104 spots to No. 570. The Tigers (7-2) have won four of their past five games, two of those battles by single digits.
OvertonJumped 104 spots to No. 1,140.The Mustangs (3-5) are coming off a low-scoring affair, downing Gary 31-29 on Jan. 17.
Ysleta (El Paso)Jumped 102 spots to No. 966. The Indians (7-14) lost four games in a row before taking down Horizon (El Paso) 72-60 on Jan. 17.
MasonJumped 101 spots to No. 1,196. The Punchers (2-9) picked up just their second win of the season on Jan. 6, beating Albany 65-29.
