Softball Recap: Piketon Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Piketon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Huntington on Wednesday. The Redstreaks blew past the Huntsmen 24-7. Considering the Redstreaks have won five contests by more than 12 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Piketon got a massive performance out of Briar Penwell, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Penwell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Shanks, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Piketon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington only posted an OBP of .423.

The victory (which was Piketon's fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. As for Huntington, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-7.

Piketon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-0 win against Eastern on the 17th. As for Huntington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 15-3 loss against Northwest on the 17th.
