The Winner Warriors pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riggs. Winner lost against Riggs in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 66-32 score last time.
Winner's loss came despite strong showings from Shawn Hammerbeck and Aiden Barfuss. Hammerbeck dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Barfuss scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barfuss has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Craven, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Winner struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Winner's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Riggs, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3.
Winner on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lyman at 8:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Riggs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Riggs is ranked 29th).
