Meadowbrook is a perfect 3-0 against Maysville since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Colts will be taking part in a tournament against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Meadowbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Meadowbrook is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Tri-Valley just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scotties.
Natalee Norman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sommer Ginn, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maysville, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in April. They won by a run and slipped past River View 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak.
Taylor Freeland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kaelynne Mitton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Sophie Dennis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meadowbrook's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Maysville, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-12 and their overall record up to 3-14.
Meadowbrook's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Colts have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Maysville, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Meadowbrook continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Meadowbrook's way against Maysville when the teams last played back in April, as Meadowbrook made off with an 8-2 win. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
