The Bennington Badgers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Roncalli Catholic Crimson Pride on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crimson Pride by a score of 77-74. Bennington has not had much luck with Roncalli Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Bennington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Olson, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Neuverth, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Bennington's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Roncalli Catholic, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bennington's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gross Catholic on February 8th. Bennington has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 284 points over their last four contests. As for Roncalli Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Mount Michael Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roncalli Catholic is facing Mount Michael Benedictine at the right time seeing as Mount Michael Benedictine is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
