The Carmel Corsairs are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Belleville West Maroons at 9:00 a.m. on December 28th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Carmel was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-46 to Nazareth Academy.
Meanwhile, Belleville West's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Alton an easy 72-52 victory.
Despite their loss, Belleville West saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Myles Liddell, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Liddell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Marshall jr., who scored ten points.
Carmel has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Belleville West, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Carmel was able to grind out a solid win over Belleville West in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 54-44. Will Carmel repeat their success, or does Belleville West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
