Softball Recap: Surry Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Surry Central hadn't done well against East Surry recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Eagles have posted since March 18th.

McKindsey Lloyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Emmerson Martin was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was AvaReese Branch, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The win snapped Surry Central's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-8 record. As for East Surry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Surry Central and East Surry will both be playing Wilkes Central the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will head out to face the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Golden Eagles will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
