The Ferguson Falcons were the 70-64 winner over the Braddock Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Ferguson fell just short of Braddock by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (56), Ferguson still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Ferguson lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Gonzalez. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points along with 7 rebounds. Gonzalez scored a full 46.2% of Ferguson's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Britto, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Braddock was led to victory by Jonathan Hernandez and Alejandro Lopez. Hernandez scored 17 points, while Lopez scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Markus Zenck, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Ferguson and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Braddock, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Ferguson will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Mater Lakes Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 6th. Mater Lakes Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ferguson in Florida (Mater Lakes Academy is ranked 83rd, while Ferguson is ranked 585th). As for Braddock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Archbishop Carroll focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
