Shadow Ridge has gone a perfect 4-0 against West Point recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Shadow Ridge will look to defend their home field against West Point at 3:45 p.m. The last three games Shadow Ridge has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Monday, Shadow Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Corona del Sol and fell 4-3.
McKayla Ethington made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Madilyn Gentner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, West Point entered their tilt with Apollo on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over the Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Angelique Chavez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Mariah Mendez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabby Rodriguez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
West Point hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in five consecutive matchups.
Shadow Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7-1 record this season. West Point's win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shadow Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like West Point struggles in that department as they've averaged .420. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shadow Ridge took their victory against West Point in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-5. Does Shadow Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
