After a string of five wins, The Berlin Redcoats''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Manchester 27-21. The contest was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Berlin was outscored by Manchester in the second.
Berlin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Toby Lavender, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns, and Elijah Santos who gained 58 total yards and a touchdown.
Manchester got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emanuel Sampel out in front who threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Manchester also got a significant boost from Julian Henderson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
Berlin's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Manchester, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berlin will face off against Newington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Newington comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Manchester, they will head out on the road to face off against Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windsor will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
