Even though the Glenwood Titans have not done well against the Edwardsville Tigers recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Glenwood sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 victory over Edwardsville. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Glenwood has posted yet this season.
Leading Glenwood to victory were Katelyn Lehnen and Alexis Neumann. Lehnen scored 13 points along with two steals, while Neumann dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Lehnen continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowann Law, who scored five points along with two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Glenwood and bumps their season record up to 15-5. As for Edwardsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenwood on the road again on Saturday and play against Mahomet-Seymour at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Mahomet-Seymour will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Glenwood is ranked 71st). As for Edwardsville, they will head out on the road to face off against O'Fallon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Fallon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 607 points over their last nine games.
