Even though the North Callaway Thunderbirds scored an imposing 68 points on Thursday, the Clopton Hawks still came out on top. Clopton snuck past North Callaway with a 72-68 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Clopton.
Clopton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashlyn Noah out in front who scored 18 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Noah scored 15 or more points. Braya Smith was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
North Callaway's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lakyn Hartley, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kymorie Myers, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Clopton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for North Callaway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
Clopton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Van-Far at 4:00 p.m. Van-Far is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for North Callaway, they will square off against Winfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winfield is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
