Southwestern is a perfect 3-0 against South Decatur since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rebels will face off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Southwestern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.

Southwestern will head out to face South Decatur after giving up their first home loss of the season on Monday. The Rebels took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Ripley. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Rebels couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chloey Leach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Southwestern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nataley Morrison, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, South Decatur lost 14-4 to Edinburgh on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Daisy Martin was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Raegan Benge also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-2. As for South Decatur, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southwestern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. However, it's not like South Decatur struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Southwestern took their victory against South Decatur when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
