The Lakeland Chiefs will face off against the Valley View Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
Lakeland came up short against North Pocono on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Valley View entered their tilt with Scranton on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Knights.
Valley View had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 17-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-13.
Valley View's win came from a few key players Lakeland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Claire Murphy, who had nine blocks, seven kills, and four aces. Those seven kills gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Monica Orellana, who had 15 digs and five aces.
Valley View was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in five consecutive matchups.
Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Valley View, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 6-10.
