The Suffern Mounties on the road again on Thursday and play against the Saunders Trades & Tech Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on January 18th. One thing working in Suffern's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
Even though Ossining scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, Suffern still came out on top. Suffern walked away with a 64-56 win over Ossining. Given Suffern's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Ossining is ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Saunders Trades & Tech pushed their score all the way to 71 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Roosevelt on the road by a decisive 86-71 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Saunders Trades & Tech in their matchups with Roosevelt: they've now lost seven in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Alex Vazquez, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Micheal Patterson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds.
Suffern has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Saunders Trades & Tech, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
