With a playoff game on the line, the Durant Cougars rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 33-0 win over Palm Harbor University on the road. Fans of Durant have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Michael Ryan looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 301 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Quentin Pope made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Another reason for the win was Durant's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Cade Long and Jerome Parham who racked up four sacks between them.
Durant has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 9-2 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Newsome and 2-8 Bloomingdale (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 40.5% over those games). As for Palm Harbor University, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Durant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Palm Harbor University also has no future games currently scheduled.
