On Saturday, the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles faced the Noblesville Millers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Guerin Catholic had to suffer through a rough 71-41 loss at the hands of Noblesville. Guerin Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.
When it comes to explaining why Guerin Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dylan Murans. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Sorensen, who scored six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Noblesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Walston, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Walston is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aaron Fine, who scored 16 points along with five assists.
Guerin Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Noblesville, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Guerin Catholic will take on Culver Academies at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Culver Academies is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Noblesville, Noblesville and Mt. Vernon will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mt. Vernon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Noblesville is ranked fifth).
