Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Emmilina Miller and Arianah Wallace

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Friday. The Morningside Academy Eagles took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Morningside Academy of the 55-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.

Despite the loss, Morningside Academy had strong showings from Arianah Wallace, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds, and Emmilina Miller, who posted 11 points and four steals. Wallace has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 21 times she's played.

Calvary Chapel Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dani Rouw, who earned 11 points. Ava Dorn was another key player, putting up ten points.

Morningside Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Morningside Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-39 win against Calvary Chapel Academy on the 6th. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-30 victory against Master's Academy on the 4th.
