New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly hasn't had much luck against Maroa-Forsyth recently, but that could start to change on Friday. New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly blew Athens out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Athens got their revenge. The Vipers fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 29-27. The Vipers were up 20-6 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Despite the defeat, New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly got top-tier performance from Brady Crews, who rushed for 154 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 41 yards and one touchdown. Crews' longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Michael Pecoraro, who gained 73 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Maroa-Forsyth entered their game against Williamsville on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Trojans received a blow as they fell 39-20 to the Bullets. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly will have to contain Ryne Sheppard as he made an impact in Maroa-Forsyth's last game. He rushed for 59 yards and three scores on only six carries, and also threw for 156 yards and one touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes. Zach Smith was another key player, gaining 122 total yards and a touchdown.
Maroa-Forsyth's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Crews and Sheppard.
