The Window Rock Fighting Scouts''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Monument Valley, falling 56-0. Window Rock was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Monument Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.
Monument Valley had a senior duo take command as Uzziel Flores gained 127 total yards and three touchdowns and Kameron Young rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Flores was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Trent Tall and his 95 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Monument Valley's win.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Window Rock to a paltry 27 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Monument Valley's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out nine times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Leighton Williams and his two sacks.
Window Rock's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.6 points per game. As for Monument Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Window Rock will face off against Ganado at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Ganado comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Monument Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Winslow at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Winslow is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
