The Shea Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Coventry Oakers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shea has 12 straight wins, the Oakers have five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Shea gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 52-28 margin over Prout. Given Shea's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Crusaders are ranked 37th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Coventry came up short against the Crusaders on Wednesday and fell 52-45.
Shea pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Coventry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Shea took their win against the Oakers in their previous meeting last Monday by a conclusive 54-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shea since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
