The Gilman City Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They fell 59-52 to Grundy County/Newtown-Harris. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gilman City in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.
Grundy County/Newtown-Harris got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kinsley Allnutt out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Allnutt is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Milazzo, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Gilman City has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilman City will square off against the Red Birds on Monday. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
