Basketball Recap: Billingsley Beats Thorsby for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Billingsley entered their tilt with Thorsby on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They managed a 47-41 win over the Thorsby Rebels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 33-20 back in November of 2024.

Leading Billingsley to victory were Alana Jones and Derrica Motley. Jones dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards, while Motley went 8 of 17 on her way to 18 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Jones has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 36 times she's played.

Billingsley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.9 points per game. As for Thorsby, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Billingsley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Isabella at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Billingsley is facing Isabella at the right time seeing as Isabella is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Thorsby, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Alabama Christian Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
