The Westlake Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Croton-Harmon Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Westlake barely beat Blind Brook the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Trojans last Friday. 11 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Keith Haecker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Haecker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Frank Vessa was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Desmond Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Croton-Harmon came out on top against Pleasantville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Tigers took their contest against the Panthers 7-4. The Tigers have beaten the Panthers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Croton-Harmon also got a great performance from Oren Rouas as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. With that strong performance, Rouas is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Levine, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Ryan Kim was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Croton-Harmon pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Westlake, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Westlake couldn't quite finish off Croton-Harmon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
