Delta is 1-9 against Jay County since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Delta Eagles will take on the Jay County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season.
Delta is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hamilton Heights as Delta made off with a 63-37 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Huskies are ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Addison Barnes and Jillian Barr were among the main playmakers for Delta as the former went 7 of 15 on her way to 20 points in addition to six assists and three steals and the latter went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and four steals. Barr has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Olivia Marshall was another key player, putting up nine points.
Delta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Jay County played a tough matchup last Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 89-34 loss at the hands of Norwell. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-20.
Despite the defeat, Jay County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hallie Schwieterman went 11 of 26 on her way to 26 points and five rebounds.
Jay County's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Delta, they moved to 15-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Delta has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Jay County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
