2A Agua Fria Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Jamerrius Anthony's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cortez over Phoenix Christian
Starting off the list is Cortez's Jamerrius Anthony, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Anthony rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
This season, Anthony has thrown 1 touchdown (and no picks) while averaging 19.6 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 18.88 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 71.38 rushing yards.

Michael Anthony Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Keeping Anthony company is Michael Anthony, a fellow Cortez player. He rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (100.2) per game. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss).
If history really does repeat itself, Anthony might just drop another big game when he faces off against Kingman Academy on Friday. Anthony rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry the last time he and the Tigers duked it out back in October of 2023.

Aeden Calini Goes Supernova in Highland Prep Loss
Highland Prep was sadly handed a defeat on Friday, but Aeden Calini did his best to prevent it. Despite the loss, Calini was still balling out as he picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Highland Prep's success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
Unfortunately for Kingman Academy, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Calini. Calini picked up 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns the last time he and the Tigers duked it out back in October of 2023.

Phoenix Christian Gets a Boost from Rondan in 35-19 Victory
Z'Yeon Rondan's big game helped extend Phoenix Christian's winning streak to five on Friday. Rondan turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 142 yards and three touchdowns.
If history really does repeat itself, Rondan might just drop another big game when he faces off against Mountainside on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Rondan saw the Wolves), he rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns.

A Season-Best Effort from Liam Coye Leads Highland Prep over Kingman Academy
Sadly, Liam Coye posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Highland Prep over Kingman Academy on Friday. Coye wasn't messing around, making 19 total tackles (2.0 for loss). The matchup was his fifth straight with eight or more total tackles dating back to last season.
This year, Coye has averaged 10.5 total tackles per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 4.38 total tackles per game.
