Quenton Nelson is selected among the first 10 picks of Thursday's NFL Draft — he's
projected across the board by CBS experts — expect big cheers in and around his hometown of Red Bank, N.J.
Expect even bigger cheers collectively from linemen everywhere, as well as all athletes who engage in martial arts.
Nelson, a behemoth 6-foot-5, 330-pound junior out of Notre Dame, is one of only five offensive linemen projected to be picked in the first round, and only one of two in the first 28 picks, according to CBS'
Chris Trapasso.
Out of
Red Bank Catholic (Red Bank, N.J.), Nelson was the No. 61 national recruit overall and fifth-rated offensive tackle in the Class of 2014, according to 247Sports.
He helped the Caseys to an 10-1 record his senior year and paved the way to potent rushing attack that averaged nearly 300 yards per game and 8.7 yards per carry.
Nelson utilized Taekwondo to expand his strength and flexibility, and moved to guard and gained 35 pounds at Notre Dame, where he earned first-team All-American honors before declaring for the NFL draft early in January.
He's projected as early as the fifth pick in the draft by his hometown team, the New York Giants, but most have him going No. 8 to the Bears.

Quenton Nelson always stood out at Red Bank Catholic.
