The Braxton County Eagles will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Poca Dots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Braxton County has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Poca will arrive with three straight victories.
Braxton County's last matchup with Ravenswood could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Eagles came up short against the Red Devils, falling 15-1.
Braxton County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Seth Conley, who went 1-for-2 with one run. That run was Conley's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Poca hadn't done well against Roane County recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Dots blew past the Raiders 11-1. The Dots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Cooper Jones made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson McClanahan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Logan Inglish, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Braxton County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Poca, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Everything went Braxton County's way against Poca in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Braxton County made off with a 16-6 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Dots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
