The First Coast Buccaneers will challenge the Tocoi Creek Toros at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. First Coast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

First Coast fell victim to Paxon School For Advanced Studies and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Golden Eagles, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Buccaneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tocoi Creek). They put the hurt on St. Augustine with a sharp 16-6 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Toros in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won five in a row.

Hannah Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Jones was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dekoyta Blackmon, who scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Julia Mauldin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

First Coast has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Tocoi Creek's victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
