Paramus Catholic hasn't had much luck against River Dell recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Paladins will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Golden Hawks at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Paramus Catholic needed a bit of extra time to put away Mahwah. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Thunderbirds 6-5.
David Acevedo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Acevedo was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jendry Cruz was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Joubert, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, River Dell took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against Dwight Morrow as they made off with a 16-1 victory.
River Dell gave Kevin Good the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Good a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Nathan Silverstein was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Alex Silverstein was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
River Dell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dwight Morrow only posted an OBP of .222.
