On Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Tyler had to settle for a 28-26 loss against Tug Valley.
Bryson Elia was his usual excellent self, rushing for 159 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 103 yards and a touchdown. Elia was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards. Another player making a difference was Adam Slone, who gained 104 total yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Tug Valley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ashton Davis and Buddy Marcum who racked up six sacks between them.
Tyler's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.7 points per game. As for Tug Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Tyler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tug Valley will head out on the road to face off against Tucker County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tucker County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
