Basketball Recap: Silas Salazar's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mccauley Christian Academy over Vanguard Christian

McCauley Christian Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2024 on Monday. They lost 54-32 to the Vanguard Christian Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-30 two weeks ago.

McCauley Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Silas Salazar, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 17 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Blake Martinez, who posted ten points and five boards.

Even though they lost, McCauley Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Jayden Postell was his usual excellent self, going 6-for-14 to rack up 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals for Vanguard Christian. Caleb Postell also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

McCauley Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Vanguard Christian, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4.

McCauley Christian Academy has already played their next contest, a 74-52 win against Varsity Opponent on the 11th. As for Vanguard Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-27 victory against Southwest Prep Northeast on the 13th.
