The Tooele Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to Kearns at home by a decisive 66-49 margin.
Tooele's loss came despite strong showings from Josie Kennedy and Kennedy Searle. Kennedy dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds, while Searle scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Searle has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Tooele were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Kearns was led to victory by Kylee Glade and Iman Finau. Glade scored 16 points along with seven steals, while Finau scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Finau scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Crystal Afemata - marasco, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Tooele's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Kearns, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Tooele will head out on the road to face off against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Granger is on a three-game streak of home losses, Tooele a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Kearns will take on Summit Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Summit Academy is ranked 86th, while Kearns is ranked 111th).
