Even though the College Park Falcons have not done well against the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. College Park had just enough and edged Clayton Valley Charter out 44-41. The win was all the more spectacular given College Park's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 489th, while Clayton Valley Charter is ranked 85th).
It was another big night for Miles Smith, who scored 24 points along with two steals. Deegan Sullenger was another key contributor, scoring three points along with six assists and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Clayton Valley Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaden Mcclane. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcclane has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Justin Underwood, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
College Park is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Clayton Valley Charter, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. College Park will challenge Benicia at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Benicia will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Northgate at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Northgate focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Monday.
