Murray is 7-2 against Hillcrest since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Murray Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Hillcrest Huskies at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Murray has three straight victories, Hillcrest has 28 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Murray scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Park City 69-25 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Murray has posted yet this season.
Charlotte Scherbel was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mia Auclaire, who scored 15 points along with two blocks.
Hillcrest suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Tooele, falling 59-19. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hillcrest in their matchups with Tooele: they've now lost three in a row.
Murray's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.
Murray didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, but they still walked away with a 42-38 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Hillcrest's Olivia Backus, who scored 22 points. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Murray to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
