Alexander is 2-7 against United since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Alexander Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the United Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Alexander sitting on four straight wins and United on five.
Alexander can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Del Rio 28-7.
Gael Rodriguez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played.
Meanwhile, United didn't have too much trouble with Laredo LBJ at home on Friday as they won 28-9. Given United's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Laredo LBJ is ranked 894th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
United's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Atzel Chavez Jr., who threw for 317 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Alek Leven, who picked up 129 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Alexander has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for United, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
