There's no place like home for the Owatonna Huskies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Mankato East by a score of 57-45 on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Owatonna's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Mankato East is ranked 45th).
Owatonna was led to victory by Carsyn Brady and Ava Olson. Brady dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Olson scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Brady is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maryn Pool, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Owatonna pushed their record up to 12-11 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Mankato East, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.
Owatonna will head out on the road to challenge Century at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Century has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Mankato East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Faribault at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
