Softball Recap: Caston Wins Going Away Against Laville

Caston won the last time they faced LaVille and things went their way on Friday too. The Comets put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 14-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.

Hadlie Coffing was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Coffing was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Kylee Logan and Myli Rude did most of the damage at the plate: Logan got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Rude got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Abigail Apperson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Caston hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

Caston picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-10. As for LaVille, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Caston will be playing at home against Manchester at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Squires have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for LaVille, they will venture away from home to challenge Jimtown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
