The Weeki Wachee Hornets can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They snuck past Pasco with a 69-65 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jean Garcia continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Stumpf, who scored 13 points.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karson Mathis, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Mathis grabbed two or more steals. TJ Gebru was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Weeki Wachee's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Pasco, they bumped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Weeki Wachee will take on Hernando at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pasco, they will head out on the road to square off against Tampa Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tampa Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday.
