Yutan gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-32 win over the Elmwood-Murdock Knights. The Chieftains are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 17 straight dating back to last season.
Yutan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mylee Tichota, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Tichota has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Dieckman, who went 6 of 13 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.
Tichota wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Yutan was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elmwood-Murdock only posted seven assists.
Elmwood-Murdock's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brooke Goudie, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 15 points and six boards, and Gracyn Hanes, who posted six points. That's the most rebounds Goudie has posted since back in December of 2023.
Yutan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 33-31 victory against West Point-Beemer on the 7th. As for Elmwood-Murdock, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-36 defeat against Lincoln Christian on the 7th.
