It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the West Jones Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-20 win over Hancock at home. The win was just business as usual for West Jones, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Hancock's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dylan Moran, who threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Schaefer, who picked up 142 receiving yards and a touchdown.
West Jones pushed their record up to 11-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hancock, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.
West Jones will face off against Terry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Terry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 51st, while West Jones is ranked fourth). Hancock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
