Sacred Heart Prep narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Menlo-Atherton 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Sacred Heart Prep has posted since December 15, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sacred Heart Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drew Wagner, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was TJ O'Brien, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Sacred Heart Prep pushed their record up to 15-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Menlo-Atherton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season.
Sacred Heart Prep on the road again on Tuesday and play against Priory at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Priory knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Sacred Heart Prep likes a good challenge. As for Menlo-Atherton, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Burlingame at 6:00 p.m. Burlingame will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Menlo-Atherton is ranked 99th).
